Car Hire in CDG Terminal 2 - Mini guide to CDG Terminal 2

Charles de Gaulle Terminal 2

Charles de Gaulle International Airport is the main gateway for Paris, France. Terminal 2 was initially built to service only Air France flights, but today services numerous other airlines as well as Air France.

The name Terminal 2 is somewhat misleading, because the terminal is actually made up of six large and separate halls, named: 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F. Terminal 2E’s ceiling tragically collapsed in 2004 and is now being rebuilt and the terminal is due to re-open in mid-2008.

Terminal 2 services most of the major airlines around the world. The main Air France counters are located in Terminal 2F, although some Air France flights are handled in 2A and 2B. British Airways operates out of Terminal 2B.

Terminal 2 was designed by famous French architect Paul Andreu and is beautifully airy and light. The terminal offers all the usual amenities, such as a bureaux de change, ATMs, a bank and post offices. There are plenty of Wi-fi spots around the terminal and many facilities for business travellers.

Charles de Gaulle Airport itself is well-known for its array of duty free shops, with a whole range of French boutiques to choose from. At duty free prices, many French designer items are affordable at the airport. There are also plenty of restaurants and fast food outlets.

Located only 16 miles from Paris, Terminal 2 has its own RER and TGV stations right underneath the terminal building, making arrival and departure from the terminal convenient for travellers. High-speed trains provide connections to Paris, as well as to other major European cities such as Brussels.

Hiring a car is a good way to get around Paris and its suburbs, and is the most comfortable option if travelling in a group. Most major car hire agencies have counters in Terminal 2, but booking on-the-spot can be expensive. To explore the routes to Paris and destinations beyond, book in advance online.
