Carcassonne Salvaza Airport (soon to be renamed Carcassonne Pays Cathar), located in the Languedoc region of France, is a small and efficient airport serving 300,000 passengers a year. Ryanair is the main carrier with regular Europe-wide flights.
There is one terminal operating all week from 07:30 to 19:45. Essential facilities include a bank and an ATM cash point as well as a left luggage service. Refreshment facilities include a sandwich bar and a good restaurant and bar on the first floor. Shopping is limited to a newspaper outlet, a local produce shop, and duty-free shopping.
A train service operates from Carcassonne to Toulouse and costs approx 11 one way. There is a regular bus service between the airport, Carcassonne town centre and the train station, costing 0.90 one way. There is a shuttle that runs 25 minutes after the arrival of every flight, costing 5.
Carcassonne is on the A64 autoroute 91kms from Toulouse, 61kms from Narbonne and 113kms from Perpignan. Taxis are also readily available. Parking is no longer free and, although enlarged, still tends to get full when both the London and Brussels planes arrive. Reserved parking is free for the disabled. The Information desk is located in the hall of the terminal.
