Car Hire in Cannes
Getting to Cannes
The nearest international airport to Cannes is 7kms west of Nice, and takes about 45 minutes by car. There are regular flights to Nice from many European cities and limited trans-Atlantic flights. In all, 40 airlines land at this. International flights also arrive in Marseille. Connections to Paris and other French cities are numerous.
Frequent trains run east and west along the Cote dAzure (almost hourly), and daily departures run all the way to Paris, as well as Barcelona, Milan and Genoa. The high speed TGV trains connect to Paris in approximately 5 hours (though they run more frequently via Marseilles) and run to several other destinations.
A car gives you the flexibility to explore the inland Provence region, which involves a hair raising, switchback drive over the mountains. The drive along the coast is spectacular but tiresome for drivers (traffic). Italy is less than two hours away and border formalities (including car) are extremely convenient.
Ferry services to Mediterranean destinations usually arrive and depart from Antibes (30 minutes by train), but there is a departure from Nice to Corsica.
