Cancun Airport is one of Mexico's busiest and is serviced by several US airlines with direct flights from Miami, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York. British Airways has a direct flight out of London and Iberia Airlines has one from Madrid. The airport is located 22kms southwest of Cancun.
There are two terminals, operating 24 hours a day. An airport shuttle service runs between the main entrances to the terminals. There is a bank in Terminal 2, ATMs are located throughout the terminal buildings and there are post boxes and bureau de change booths in both. Lockers and porters are also available. There are toilets for the disabled, and wheelchairs are available upon request.
The terminal facilities are generally open from 09:00 to 21:00, though some shops and one restaurant are open 24 hours. The airport has a variety of fast-food outlets and restaurants as well as gift shops, a duty-free shop and a convenience store located in Terminal 2. A beauty parlour and medical services are also to be found in Terminal 2.
Shuttles run door-to-door services to hotels in and around Cancun; reservations via the airport website are recommended. There is a public shuttle service to Cancun and the Riviera Maya, making a number of stops at various hotels and towns. Tickets can be purchased at the desk in the baggage reclaim area.
Drivers should take Carretera (highway) Cancun-Chetumal until the kilometre-22 exit, and follow signs for the airport. An official taxi company provides individual and group services from the airport. One car park is available at Terminal 1 and one at Terminal 2; both are open 24 hours a day and are patrolled by a security service. An information booth is located at the main entrance to Terminal 2 and there are airport representatives in both terminals.
