From within Mexico, you can fly to Cancun from Mexico City. It is also possible to connect to Cancun from various hub airports in the USA.

Taxi charges from the airport to the main hotel centre are high. Cancun is easily reached by car from Mérida or Campeche via Highway 180 east. Mérida is about 83kms from Cancun.

Daily buses to Cancun are available from Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Chichén-Itzá and other nearby beach and archaeological zones such as Xcaret. Long distance buses are generally more popular for travelling within Mexico and frequently ply the route between Cancun and Acapulco or Mexico City. Luxury buses go to Cancun from Mexico City, but the trip takes around 24 hours.
