Car Rental Canberra - Exploring Canberra
The Australian Capital Territory is 80km from north to south and is about 30km wide. It is landlocked within the mountainous country of southeastern New South Wales. Although relatively small by Australian standards there is still a lot to see and the area is best explored by car.
The Namadgi National Park occupies the whole southwestern area of the territory, but many of the sights to see lie within Canberra and its surrounding suburbs in the northeast of the territory.
The city itself is arranged around the artificial Lake Burley Griffin. On the northern side of the lake lies Civic, a nice drive into pretty shops and plazas near the university.
Further out, suburbs such as Reid, Braddon, Turner and Acton offer a lovely afternoons stroll, whether it is around one of the many malls or parks in the area.
Canberra is also surrounded by the satellite towns of Woden, Belconnen and Tuggeranong. Here many people who are doing more than just passing through the area often decide to stop and set up base.
The city is also in a great location for those choosing to visit the nearby delights of the Snowy Mountains and NSWs southern coast.
