Car Rental & Transportation to and From Cairo Airport
Buses run from the airport to central Cairo. An airport bus service departs from Terminal 1 (Old Airport). Bus no. 400 departs every 30 minutes during the day and hourly during the night.
Black and white taxis run between the airport and central Cairo. They depart from outside the Arrivals hall. This is the most popular option and not too costly, but make sure you agree on a price before the journey. Cairo traffic is notoriously hair-raising and congested.
Limousines serving central Cairo, also depart from the airport. Black Mercedes limousines depart in front of the Arrivals hall.
If driving from Cairo city centre, cross the 6th October Bridge, via Salah Salem Road which will lead to Heliopolis. Signage from the city centre to the airport and Heliopolis is good.
Short-term carparking with a capacity of 1000 cars is located within walking distance of the terminal buildings. The Teminal 1 carpark outside Terminal 1 was renovated in 2002.
