Car Rental Cairns - Exploring Cairns
Waterfalls, lakes and lagoons are everywhere in North Queensland. Many choose to hire a car and visit some of these amazing spots. For those driving in the far north, great care must be taken. Attention must be paid to the season and there are numerous tourist information stops to advise you on suitable routes and survival precautions.
North of Cairns is the Captain Cook Highway which is one of the most scenic coastal drives in Queensland. This road runs right along the coastline for about 30km past a string of pretty coves and superb beaches.
A five minute drive in this direction brings you to Machans Beach which is a quiet residential community, and a couple of beachfront cafes. Trinity Beach is one of the best beaches close to the city.
Slightly further north is the beautiful Mossman Gorge National Park.
Cape York Peninsula is the most northerly point on the mainland and one of the wildest and least populated areas in the country. Visiting the Cape is a 4WD adventure taking 10-14 days for the round trip.
