Car Hire Busnago - Mini guide to Busnago
Busnago is a municipality found in the Province of Milan (distinct from the province’s capital city, Milan, one of the largest cities in Italy and also one of the most developed), one of 12 provinces which are located in the region of Lombardy. Busnago is situated about 30 kilometres northeast of Milan.
Lombardy is one of the 20 regions in Italy, (of which the capital is Milan). Lombardy is home to one-sixth of Italy’s population, helped by the expanding populace in the 1950s and 1960s from Italy. It produces one-fourth of Italy’s GDP. Indeed, the per capita GDP is larger than that of the United States and other wealthy nations such as Saudi Arabia and Switzerland. Busnago itself is home to two of the largest companies in Italy.
Lombardy was settled as early as the second millennium BC, first by Etruscans and then later by the invading Celt tribes who settled Milan and several other cities. When the Romans took over, Lombardy became one of the wealthiest and developed areas in Italy.
The Italian wine ‘Lombardia’ is produced in Lombardy, the region being known for its sparkling wines although still red, white and rose wines are also produced. Evidence suggests that wine making in the region dates back to the Etruscans, who traded near Tuscany.
Lombardy gets its name from the Lombards who successfully invaded the region in the 570s. Today, even though the area was taken over by the Germans, the Lombard influence is still seen in family names, with the majority of the populations being of Lombard origin.
