Car Hire in Bulgaria - Getting to Bulgaria
Bulgaria's Balkan Airlines has flights to most European capitals, several trans-Atlantic cities, and the major Asian hubs, although flights are rather irregular. Connecting flights can be caught from more popular European destinations.
The country has an extensive and cheap train network, but it can be unreliable at the best of times. Trains also connect Bulgaria with European and Mediterranean cities.
Public and private buses operate across the country; private buses are more expensive and only slightly more comfortable.
If you enter Bulgaria by car you must state which border crossing you'll be using when you leave and pay a road tax accordingly. Route restrictions only apply if you're in transit through Bulgaria.
A regular car ferry runs across the Danube from Vidin to Calafat in Romania.
