Car Hire Buchelay - Mini guide to Buchelay
Buchelay
For travellers who need to escape the hustle and bustle of Paris, Buchelay is a tiny community 37 miles (60kms) west of the capital, in the Yvelines near Mantes-la-Jolie. The region dips south into the Seine valley, with only 20 per cent of the territory available for urban development. The rest is dedicated to farmland, where grains and cereals are grown.
The village is easily accessible by hire car from Paris or from the Normandy motorway, which passes directly through the commune territory. Train is also an option, with two trains on either side of the region using the Paris-Cherbourg line or Paris-Le Havre line.
Historically the city has relied on farming and artisanry for its sustenance, and though the modern age is definitely in evidence here, it’s the ancient ways that have evolved, with the people still making their living from crops and locally made goods.
Architecturally, the town is modest compared to others in the region but retains a quiet appeal for those seeking a restful place to unwind. The Saint Sebastian Church is a local landmark of note, and is a 15th century neo-Gothic building restored in 1846.
Buchelay prides itself on its peaceful nature, and as such you won’t find much apparent in modern additions to the city, so check ahead for accommodation before you drive here in your rental car.
