Zaventem airport is 14km (9mi) northeast of Brussels, offering mostly European destination cities, so, it may be better for you to fly into Paris, London or Frankfurt and travel into Brussels by train or bus. The Airport City Express shuttle train services between the airport and the cities main train stations: Gare du Nord, Gare du Midi and Gare Centrale. Gare Centrale is situated just five minutes from the Grand Place. Alternatively you could catch bus BZ between the airport and Gare du Nord. Airport taxis are also available from outside the arrivals hall
The city offers good European train connection services. Gare du Midi is the citys main train station for long journeys. Trains are of limited use in Brussels for tourists, except for getting to the airport.
Brussels' offers its population a good public transportation system. Euroline's main bus depot can be found adjacent to Gare du Nord. Belgium's motorway systems are excellent but be careful; Belgian drivers are known for their aggressive road manners. There are also several ferry options direct to Brussels from the UK or via the French town of Calais.
The Brussels motorway - the Petit Ring surrounds the city center and provides a reliable service and reference for all visitors who are unfamiliar its roads. Taxis are meter-priced and pretty expensive. Generally, you'll find taxis at all three major train stations, around the Grand Place and at place Stéphanie on ave Louise.
