Car Hire Brugge - Mini guide to Brugge
Brugge is Europes best preserved medieval city and Belgiums most visited tourist area. This city, having not seen the disastrous face of twentieth century warfare, remains a beautifully classic Gothic Medieval town.
In the center of the city you can climb the medieval Belfort and get a birds eye view of its Gothic heritage. From the top of the Belfort you will get an excellent view of the towns medieval centers, the Markt and the Burg, and for a moment perhaps feel as if you have been transported 500 years into the past.
The entire city of Brugge is a beautiful functioning tourist site. As almost all of the buildings are hundreds of years old, a simple stroll will leave you awestruck. Several points of extra interest include the citys four fortified medieval gates and the impressive 14th century church the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk. The city also contains one of Europes premier art museums, the Groeninge.
For entertainment, leisure, dining and accommodation, this city boasts excellent restaurants, relaxed bars and first class hotels. For beer aficionados, Brugge also has two breweries open for touring and samples, the De Gouden Boom Brewery Museum and the Straffe Hendrik Brewery.
As Belgium is a relatively small country, it is easily explored by train or car from Brugge. Some places worth seeing that are less than an hours drive away are Europes unofficial capital, Brussels, its leading port, Antwerp, and the beautiful Apennines forest area.
The international airport in Brussels can be reached with ease from Brugge by car or train. This airport offers flights to and from cities around Europe and the world.
