Car Hire in Brignoles - Mini guide to Brignoles
Situated on the River Caramy, Birgnoles is the hub of commercial, educational and administrative authority for the Var département in south-eastern France. Its old city has an authentic charm with its aged stone towers and squares, but not too far away in the centre of town exists a thriving group of shops and a Saturday market that cannot be missed.
In the latter half of the 19th century, until 1960, Brignoles existed as a mining centre of aluminium and bauxite. You can still see the quarries of old marble at Candelon across the tracks just past Le Parradou.
In the old town, places of interest include the Eglise Saint-Sauveur which has a twelfth century Romanesque doorway. Also, there is the Musée du Pays Brignolais that houses the Bayole tombstone of the second century.
Surrounded by glorious sloping vineyards with many native varieties of grapes, this is a must-visit location with the hire car (see below for details), just make sure you have a designated driver. This town also hosts the Foire de Brignoles, the annual wine fair, in the first half of every April.
Located on the Route du Val, there are a few restaurants and bars offering amenities including a pool, free parking and an onsite valet services, perfect for a night out and with rooms readily available as some are also hotels, you are spoiled for choice over where you stay and where you go for drinks.
