Car Hire in Branson - Getting to Branson

Springfield, 64kms north, is the closest airport to Branson. This airport mostly offers limited flights to and from several major cities in the region and around the state. It also offers daily flights to the larger airports of Lambert-St Louis International and Kansas City International. Both of these airports are served by most domestic airlines and offer some flights overseas.

The most common routes to Branson by car are via US 65 from Kansas City or I-64 from St Louis. Kansas City and St Louis are well connected with the US interstate system. I-70 runs between St Louis, Independence and Kansas City; while I-44 connects St Louis with Springfield. Beyond Missouri, I-70 goes east through Indianapolis, and on to Baltimore, Maryland, while I-35 goes from Kansas City south to Austin and San Antonio, Texas, and north to Minneapolis. I-64 goes east from St Louis to Louisville, Kentucky.

Amtrak offers daily services between St Louis and Kansas City, as well as between St Louis and Chicago, Illinois. St Louis and Kansas City are also on Amtrak’s Chicago-San Francisco route. However, there is currently no direct rail service to Branson itself, so you will have to find transport from these cities to the town.

Greyhound buses run to destinations throughout the state and to cities in the region, with connections to cities and towns across the USA. Bus is the cheapest travel option, but longer trips may be uncomfortable.
