Other points of interest for tourists include the Northland Arboretum and the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area.

Brainerd claims Paul Bunyan as one of its natives. Brainerd has one of the largest animated statues of this storybook legend. It is located a few miles east of the town of Baxter. Another claim to fame for Brainerd is the movie Fargo. Much of the movie takes place in Brainerd, although a fictional version of the city. Although they has some of the right landmarks, they are not the same ones that exist in the city.
