Car Hire Borgosesia - Mini guide to Borgosesia
Borgosesia is a municipality found in the Piedmont province of Vercelli, and comprises many various hamlets and villages.
Vercelli is divided roughly into three main areas: ‘The Grange’, ‘Baraggia’ and ‘Valsesia’. Valsesia is a valley in the area, and the waters of the valley run to the River Sesia. It is said to be the greenest valley in Italy, with high mountain slopes preventing development and preserving the pristine nature of the area. Indeed, Valsesia is the main tourist area in the province, due also to the Sacred Mountain of Varallo. Built in 1491, Varallo is the oldest of the sacred mountains and consists of a basilica, 45 chapels, and frescoes containing some 800-plus statues. Varallo was listed by UNESCO as of World Heritage importance in 2003.
The province of Vercelli is bordered to the east by the province of Lombardy, and is criss-crossed by three main roads, meaning access by car and coach is easy and quick – and there are several rail lines so for those who don’t have a car, train is just as convenient. Vercelli is one of the eight provinces of Piedmont.
Piedmont is one of the 20 regions of Italy, the capital of which is Turin. Piedmont is surrounded on three sides by the Alps, part of which is the ‘Po’ (the longest river in Italy), and borders with France and Switzerland.
