Car Hire in Bordeaux - Getting to Bordeaux
Bordeaux doesnt have an airport of its own and visitors rely instead on the ultra fast TGV trains from Paris, Marseille and Nice, which receive international flights.
Bordeaux is a major rail hub for the south west of France. The Gare St-Jean (station), is 3km from the city centre at the end of cours de la Marne. 16 trains a day run to Paris, with regular departures to Biarritz, Bayonne, Nantes, Poitiers, La Rochelle and Toulouse as well.
Buses depart from the Halte Routière (bus terminal) to places all over the Gironde and into the Dordogne. Bordeaux is a transport hub for the many smaller seaside towns nearby, with Euroline buses traveling further, making it possible to travel nonstop to many major centers in France.
Many European visitors prefer to arrive by car, or hire, as the French road system is extensive and safe, often offering excellent scenery en-route. Two main highways exit the city to the north, the A10 and N10, and the N89 travels due east.
