Blackpool Airport

    Car Hire

Blackpool_AirportBlackpool International Airport is located on the stunning Fylde coast of Lancashire. Found just outside of Blackpool, this airport was one of the first aviation sites in the UK and now serves over two million passengers a year. From the airport, the lights of Blackpool are only a short drive away, as are other cities such as nearby Blackburn. Even Manchester is accessible as the road network leads directly to the city from the airport.

    Who to Book With
Car hire is easy to arrange as international companies Europcar and Avis have representatives at the airport. Both companies rent a variety of vehicles that can be booked either on the day or prior to arrival. Vehicles can be picked up from directly outside the terminal.

    Need to Know Essentials
In order to collect a pre-booked vehicle, you will need to present the following documentation:

    - Both parts of a valid UK driver’s licence
    - The credit card used when making the reservation
    - A passport and utility bill
    - The booking confirmation number or email

For more info read our FAQ's.

    Driving
As a rule, rental cars tend to be manual; however, all rental companies can provide automatic vehicles upon request. Driving is on the left in England and motorways are toll free and well signposted. Coastal roads make for a beautiful drive but a road map can come in handy. Speed cameras are common on English roads, with fines for anyone driving over the limit. Always be aware of your speed and of any changes in the limit, particularly when entering a built-up area. Traffic in the main cities can add time to a journey, but generally traffic is manageable.

See our guide to the UK for more information on driving here.
