Located in the centre of the northern half of Alabama, Birmingham is easily accessed by air and road transportation. Birmingham International Airport provides direct service to 50 cities in the US, with numerous daily connections. Birmingham is connected to the north and south by I-65, while access to the northeast and west is provided by I-11 and I-65. Another east-west option is provided to the south of the city, where I-31 heads from the east to the southwest of the state.
