Car Rental Bilbao Airport - Transportation to and From Bilbao Airport

Situated just 12kms from Bilbao city centre, Bilbao Airport is easily accessed by both private and public transportation. There are four possible ways to get to the airport from the centre of Bilbao. The most direct route is via Alameda Recalde. Once over La Salve Bridge, on the left is access to one of the Artxanda tunnels which leads to the Corredor del Txorrieri motorway. From here, the airport is well sign-posted.

From the Plaza de Pío XII, by the Deusto Bridge, is another Artxanda tunnel which leads to the same place as above. By Rontegi, take the A-8 road, direction Santander, until a turning on the left to Getxo. After going over the Rontegi bridge, the beginning of the Corredor de Txorrieri is on the right. At Derio, turn right, direction Mungia, until the turning on the right to the airport.

On Via Santo Domingo from the centre of Bilbao, head towards along Alameda de Recalde. Once over Salve Bridge, go straight on. Before arriving at the Begona basilica, take the turning to the right sign-posted to the airport. Carry straight on until joining a road which is sign-posted as Airport-Bermeo. This road leads to Santo Domingo, from where it is easy to arrive at the airport.

Bilbao enjoys unbeatable road connections with the northern area of Spain: the A-8 road, which leads to Santander in the west, and to San Sebastian, Irun and France in the east; and the A-68, which connects with Vitoria, Logroño, Zaragoza, Barcelona, Burgos and Madrid.

Non-stop buses to and from Bilbao via the Artxanda tunnels leave from outside the terminal building every half hour, seven days a week from 06:30 to 22:30 (Airport à Bilbao (Plaza Moyúa)) and 06:00 to 22:00 hours (Bilbao (Plaza Moyúa) à Airport). Taxis are available from outside the terminal building 24 hours a day and run to central Bilbao and other locations in the Biscay region.

There are two car parks, with the main one located directly opposite the terminal building and suitable for short-term parking. Long-term parking is provided by a second car park located behind the short-term car park. There is a pick up and drop off area right outside the terminal entrance, and assistance is available for the mobility impaired.
