About six miles (10kms) from the north gates of Paris lies Bezons. The commune has been in place as a village on its own long before the capital’s boundaries burst out from the ancient city gates to encroach the surrounding countryside.
Like its much larger and more prominent neighbour to the south, Bezons lies on the banks of the Seine River, in the midst of three converging municipalities, Hauts-de-Seine, Yvelines and Val-d’Oise. Today the town is known for its range of small enterprises that call the city home, and as a peaceful setting for a quiet weekend away form Paris.
The city’s industry began with the opening of a leather factory in 1863, and many other small industries began to flourish over the next many years, such as telephone manufacturers and large motor builders.
