One of three airports servicing Berlin, this airport is designed to handle up to 4.5 million passengers a year, or about 1,800 passengers per typical peak hour. A new route operated by Ryanair from London Stansted to Schoenefeld has been introduced, while there are extensive connections to capitals around Europe. There are also connections to Moscow, St. Petersburgh and Tel Aviv.
There are three terminals at the airport, terminal A, B and C, with the widest range of facilities concentrated in terminal A.
Berliner Bank has a facility on the central ground floor of terminal. The Exchange-office is located on the right of terminal A's ground floor. ATMs are available in the terminal, Berliner Bank providing a machine in the centre of Terminal A's ground floor, and Deutsche Bank offering a machine in the same area.
There is a post office available on the right side of terminal A's ground floor (open Mon. to Fri. from 09:00 to 07:00, Sat. 09:00 13:00.). A mail box is also available in the right-hand area of terminal A's ground floor. A lost and found facility is operated by GlobeGround in the middle of the ground floor of terminal A.
You will find duty-free shopping available in the transit area of terminal 1, on the first floor, as well as on the ground floor of terminal C's transit area. The opening hours are dependent on flight schedules. A shopping center is also available at the airport, with shops providing drinks, food for the journey, sweets, tobacco, photo-goods, pharmaceutical products, newspapers, flowers, toys and sunglasses. The centre is located on the ground floors of both terminals A and B (Opening hours: daily from 04:00 to 22:00 p.m. Travel agencies are also available at the airport with several located in terminal A, and some also available in terminals B and C. There is a vending machine located in the corridor between Terminal A and B, and this provides beverages, snacks and pass-photos.
Bars include the Mövenpick Bars of Terminal A and B, the Meeting Point on the right of ground floor, the Cockpit on the middle of the first floor and the Transitbar on the first floor's transit area.
Parents will find baby changing tables in Terminal A, on the ground floor to the right; first floor to the right and to the left in the transit area, with keys available from airport staff. There is a baggage storage service available in the airport with luggage lockers available at Multi Parking Garage P4. A children's playground with toys and video films for children is always open and free of charge for all juvenile passengers. It is situated on the first floor of Terminal A, in the transit area. Further facilities include a first aid station available in building C 007, across from Terminal B. The facility operates 24 hours.
Business travellers will find conference facilities provided in The Hugo-Junkers-Lounge, located on the second floor of terminal B. Lounges also provide some relaxation for business travellers, with Hugo-Junkers Lounge available on the second floor of terminal A (opening hours: daily 06:00 - 21:00).
All of the service facilities at the airport are handicapped-accessible, with specially-adapted washrooms and telephones available. Those with hearing difficulties may use the TDD phones, available in the terminal. Special needs will be tended to by the passenger's respective airline.
