    Driving
Road conditions and type vary, from well-maintained highways to rugged country roads. Parking restrictions are strictly enforced and there are hefty fines for anyone caught parking in a prohibited area. Always check if a ticket or token needs to be purchased and displayed when parking your vehicle in a car park. Petrol pumps accept credit and debit cards; however, not all accept UK-issued cards. A warning triangle and reflective jacket need to be carried in the vehicle at all times. Driving is on the right in France and although most roads are signposted, it is recommended that you take a road map on long journeys.

See our guide to France for more information on driving here.
