Car Hire Benidorm - Mini guide to Benidorm
This coastal jewel is located between Valencia and Alicante, consisting of grand hotels, miles of sandy beach, crystal blue water and a thriving, exotic nightlife.
Benidorm is definitely built for tourism, with more hotels than you can count and countless rows of shops along Playa del Levante, where hordes of tourists flock to the streets almost 24 hours a day. A carnival beach culture abounds here with Levante Beach being the most popular stretch.
Home to Spains tallest building - the Grand Hotel Bali, Benidorm is know as little New York to many locals because of the proliferation of tall buildings. It is difficult to find remnants of the historic past, however, tucked within the narrow streets of the Casco Antiguo are the ruins of the Castillo-Mirador de Benidorm. The castle affords stunning views of Playa del Levante to the north and Playa de Poniente to the south, as well as Benidorm Island.
For the keen shopper, there is more than enough to keep you alert in the Marina complex with a selection of fast food restaurants and bars to choose from. There is a 5km stretch of white sandy beach with literally thousands of sun loungers on the Levante Beach alone. For adventure seekers there is cable water skiing, windsurfing, scuba diving, mini golf and horseback riding along the Algar River. Alternatively, the nightlife is hedonistic and exhaustive!
You can enjoy a great day out of town by hiring a car and heading along the coast or inland to visit some of the nearby villages. Visit Polop and the water fountains, go to Altea and browse around the town or even head for the pretty mountain town of Guadalest, with its birds eye view of a pretty lake.
The international airport of El Altet in Alicante, has regular flights connecting with several points in Spain and Europe. The airport is located 50 km from Benidorm.
