Car Hire in Belfast - Getting to Belfast
Belfast international airport services flights from the UK, Amsterdam, Brussels and New York the only one in Northern Ireland. There are regional connections to all major centres throughout Northern and the Republic of Ireland, many of these arrive/depart from the more convenient Belfast City airport.
Ulsterbus is Northern Ireland's national bus system and includes services to selected destinations in Eire. Rail services are limited but do go as far as Dublin (two hours), as well as Bangor, Larne and Derry in the North.
Ferries from the Isle of Man and Stranraer (Scotland 2 hours by seacat) arrive at Donegall Quay, near the city centre. Liverpool ferries dock at the Victoria terminal (5kms north of the city).
Hired car is the most popular and rewarding mode of transport for visitors. The road network is well developed and no border checks exist when crossing into the Republic of Ireland, although roads are windy and journey times can be longer than expected.
Dublin is two hours south traveling on the A26. This national road runs from North to South of the territory. The A6 heads west towards Derry.
