Beaune is a commune and town in eastern France, situated close to Dijon on the Cote d'Or in the Bourgogne region. The town is a lively, prosperous and charming place for art buffs, wine lovers and gastronomes.

Beaune lies on the TGV high-speed line with direct connections to Paris in the northwest and Lyon in the south. There are also regional services to Dijon and Mcon. Beaune's delightful historic heart is a pleasant spot to explore on foot. Among the highlights are the Hotel Dieu, a must-see, and the Hospices, charity hospitals for the needy founded in 1442. For food and wine devotees, Beaune features fabulous restaurants and numerous places to sample good wines.

Beaune is an ideal starting point for exploring other famous wine towns nearby, such as Montrachet, Nuits Saint Georges and Pommard.
