Baden-Airpark:Baden Airpark is an airport in Germany that is located 40 km south of Karlsruhe, 55km north of Strasbourg and 15km west of Baden-Baden. It is located in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg of Germany.
Baden Airpark is also called Flughafen Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden which as of 2004, is considered to be the 2nd largest airport in Baden-Wurttemberg. It is also the 18th largest airport in Germany that has the capacity of handling 835,000 passengers in a year.
Baden Airpark was first built and used as a Canadian military base and airport. It was then first called CFB Baden-Soellingen, and this name remained from the year 1953 to 1993. It was in 1995 that the new Baden Airpark GmbH took over the airport while the first commercial flight was held in May 17, 1997. It was from Baden Airpark to Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Basically, the airport found here is a part of Baden Airpark where you find facilities for both leisure and business. For your leisure, you find an 18 hole golf course here, which has an enclosed ice rink which were all part of the original Canadian base. The locals refer to Baden Airpark with another name, Baden Sollingen.
