Avignon-Caumont Airport is located just eight kilometres east of the city and now receives traffic from many major world cities including London and Sydney, via Paris. A shuttle service runs to and from the city centre, taking 15 minutes and costing 1. The same journey by taxi costs 10.
Avignon lies at the crossroads of three major highways. From Paris, take the A6 towards Lyon, leading on to the A7 to Avignon. The A9 in the south links up with the Spanish A7/E15 from Barcelona. From the direction of Italy, follow the A8 to the south of Avignon where it meets up with the A7 northbound to the city.
TGV trains arrive in Paris from Lille, Nantes, Rouen, Brussels and Geneva. From Paris, trains take 2 hours, 40 minutes to reach Avignon. Eurostar offers a direct London Waterloo-Avignon service every Saturday from May 24 to October 18, taking 7 hours, 15 minutes. Most trains arrive at Avignons La Gare TGV station south of the city centre, and some go on to the Central Station, boulevard St Roch. The former has shuttle links to the town centre.
International coach companies Linebus and Eurolines have regular departures from Brussels, Morocco, London, Prague, Italy and Spain. Buses arrive at the Gare Routière station on boulevard St Roch. Avignon Central Station is linked to all major bus routes and both stations have taxi ranks.
