Mini guide to Atlanta Airport
Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport was the busiest airport in the world in 1999 with nearly 80 million passengers. But two terminals and six concourses adequately handle the traffic and further expansion plans, including the building of a fifth runway, will ease the congestion further. The airport is conveniently located 10 miles south of Atlanta.
Hartsfield has two terminals (North and South) and the super-efficient people carrier (underground train), connects these terminals to six concourses. An 8-minute ride connects the furthest of the six concourses. A travelator also carries people between terminals.
The North Terminal provides the ticketing and check-in areas for most international and domestic carriers, while the South Terminal provides the same services for Delta Airlines, Aeromexico, Air France, Sabena and South African Airways.
Shops, restaurants and cafés are scattered throughout Atlanta Airports two terminals and in the concourses and underground transit mall. Atlanta Airport is reputed to have one of the best duty free stores in the USA.
There is a full bank service in the North Terminal, as well as nearby currency-exchange bureaux. They are also located in International Concourse E and ATMs can be found in all sectors of Atlanta Airport. The airport is also designed to cater well for physically challenged people. An inter-faith chapel and extensive locker and luggage storage facilities can also be found in the Airport.
The Executive Conference Center is situated at Airport Atrium Suite 300, and offers extensive facilities: fax, photocopying, teleconferencing, laptop/PC facilities, which can be booked hourly/daily.
An information desk is positioned in the central Atrium. You will also find multilingual customer service staff available throughout the airport.
