Car Hire Asahikawa Airport - Mini guide to Asahikawa Airport

Asahikawa Airport is a regional airport in Hokkaido, Japan. It lies on the borders of Asahikawa and Higashikagura and serves both communities as a regional airport. This airport is one of 24 airports that are able to handle regional as well as some international flights. It boasts a well-lighted passenger terminal due to its glass structure.

July boasts the warmest temperatures for the Asahikawa Airport while December and January are its coldest months.

At least 70 domestic flights leave Asahikawa each week and there are four cities it reaches with nonstop flights each week. Planes leaving Asahikawa have a seating capacity of 155 – 290 seats allowing over 17,000 travelers to fly from this airport each week.

Leaving the airport you can choose Asahikawa or Higashikagura as the closest destinations. Higashikagura is the smaller of the two cities with a population of over 9,000 people. Should you choose to visit Asahikawa, population 360,000, you might want to check on the zoo. Over 320,000 visitors had made their way through the facility by August of 2004. Recent construction of interactive viewing services keeps both animals and visitors to the park safe and happy. The zoo boasts a walk through penguin aquarium and a trapeze for its Orangutans.

A Winter Festival is held each year along the Ishikari River. The event features themes focused around snow and ice and features ice-sculpting competitions. The artwork also incorporates special lighting so that the winter scene is not only cold and beautiful but also beautifully displayed. Skiing is also available just west of this city known as the coldest city in Japan.

Also unique to Asahikawa are the gourmet foods that abound here. Restaurants are plentiful and ethnic restaurants are making up some of the number included in its many places to eat.

Bring the kids; plan to build a snow castle; ski to your heart’s content. The Asahikawa Airport makes it all easy to reach through car rental agencies located in the airport itself. Research, plan and go – but don’t forget the skis.
