Car Hire Antigua Airport - Mini guide to Antigua Airport
V.C. Bird International Airport is situated on the north-east corner of Antigua, eight kilometres from St. John's, and provides the principle gateway for visitors arriving by air to Antigua and Barbuda. Both direct flights and connections are available from North America, with stopovers available in San Juan and St. Martin. There are also several scheduled and chartered weekly flights from Europe.
There is just one terminal in the airport, serving all domestic and international arrivals and departures. Local connections include a flight to Codrington airport in Barbuda, with flights lasting a mere 20 minutes.
A 24-hour ATM is provided and a bureaux de change opens 0800-2100 Monday to Friday. A post office is also available in the airport, and it operates from 0830 to 1500, Monday to Friday.
Eating and drinking needs are catered for by a restaurant and bar present in the airport. Shops include a limited selection of duty-free, as well as newsagents, souvenir outlets and a number of travel accessories outlets. Facilities open and close with the airport, 0500-2400.
There are no business or conference facilities available at the airport. However, the nearby Beach Comber Hotel, three kilometres away, provides meeting rooms and some business facilities.
The disabled are catered for with lifts, ramps, and specially fitted toilets, with wheelchairs also available at the airport. Individual airlines can further assist passengers with special needs.
An information counter is located on the ground (public) side of the terminal, and will aid passengers with any further queries.
