Car Hire Alghero Fertilia Airport
Mini guide to Alghero Fertilia Airport
Sardinia has become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly in the summer months. Located on the northwest coast of the island, Alghero Fertilia Airport is perfectly positioned to take advantage of the hordes of summer visitors arriving by both regular and charter flights, and currently serves around a quarter of a million passengers annually.
The airport has one passenger terminal that caters to all flights. The facilities of the terminal are not extensive, however they do serve most visitor requirements.
Financial matters are dealt with by a bank, a currency exchange bureau and ATM machines, while a bar, café and restaurant satisfy passengers hunger and thirst. Duty-free and regular shopping outlets provide interest for those with time on their hands or others hunting for last minute souvenirs. Products to look out for are locally produced gifts, handicrafts and alcohol. There is also a pharmacy.
Business visitors can contact the airport (fax: +39 (0)7 93 5282) for information and reservations regarding the terminals single conference room.
Those who require special assistance or wheelchairs should notify their airlines when booking their flight. Specially fitted toilets, ramps and lifts are located across the airport. As for car parking, designated areas are available in the car park opposite the terminal.
Both an airport information booth and a tourist help desk are conveniently located within the terminal to assist with visitors requests and problems.
Alghero is just 12 km (7 miles) from the airport; from the city take the SS291 then follow the SP44 to the airport. There are regular shuttle services to the city (contact the information booth for current timetables), and taxis are available for trips into the city and beyond.
There are short term and long term parking spaces at the airport, and there is also a drop off/pick up area right outside the terminal entrance. Assistance is available for those with reduced mobility.
