Car Hire Alcudia - Mini guide to Alcudia
AlcudiaAlcudia is a small town South of Port de Pollenca that although most of the ruins have been destroyed, has a rich historical importance. Alcudia sits on a neck of land that separates two sheltered bays and was first developed in the 1st by the Romans and Pollentia and today it is home to an imitation Medieval wall.
Explore the antique lanes of the centre and the town’s walls and gates. Your walk will take you past the remains of the Roman Pollentia with broken walls and fallen pillars. Next, spend time relaxing on the nearby sandy beaches. The sea along the shoreline is shallow making it perfect for families with small children to play safely. At S'Albufera, a protected nature reserve, you can rent pedaloes, parasails, banana boats and tubes for the ultimate in water fun. Along the beach you will find bars and restaurants with varied menus featuring specialties.
Alcudia also offers several great cafés along Placa Constitució and a local favorite is Ca’s Cappella located East of the church of St. Jaume on Recortia.
From Port d’Alcudia you can take boat trips around the island and ferries to Barcelona. There are shops along the pier where you can buy porcelain, jewelry and collectibles. The pier and harbor are a beautiful place to spend a romantic evening.
