Getting to Albany
Albany is located in the centre eastern part of the state of New York, and is easily reached by both private and public transportation. Most international visitors arrive via New York City, the east coasts major air traffic hub, which offers flights to and from destinations worldwide.
From NYC, you can get connections to Albany International Airport, a fast growing regional airport serving over 130 flights per day. There is plenty of reliable transportation into the city, with ShuttleFly buses being the most convenient. Other bus services and taxis are always available.
Albany is barely an hours drive north of New York City. Take I-87, which runs north-south through Albany. From the east or west, use I-90.
Albany is well served by Amtrak train services. The Adirondack travels to and from New York and Montreal in Canada; while regular trains also run between New York, Niagara Falls and Toronto. The Lakeshore Limited runs between New York and Chicago, and there are also services up to Vermont.
Greyhound provides a reliable bus service to nearby cities, including Montreal, Plattsburgh and New York City, as well as connections to all major US cities.
