Car Rental Acapulco - Exploring Acapulco

Without doubt, Acapulco's most famous attraction is the world-famous cliff divers at La Quebrada (The Break). Divers plunge off cliffs 130 feet high into a cove that is only safe to dive when the waves come in; bad timing could result in a fatal fall. At night the divers carry torches to light their descent, adding a beautiful touch to the performance. The divers can best be seen from the Mirador Hotel's La Perla supper club or a general observation deck next to the hotel.

About 10kms northwest of town lies Pie de la Cuesta, a stunning strip of land sided by the Pacific Ocean and a fresh water lagoon, Laguna de Coyuca. This location is quiet and serene in comparison to Acapulco. The beach has good surf but can be dangerous due to rip tides; while the lagoon offers more tranquil swimming, waterskiing and boat trips that go to three islands where you can see a variety of bird life and enjoy lush jungle walks.

Laguna de Tres Palos is another freshwater lagoon 32kms south of Acapulco. The tropical vegetation makes it a haven for nesting birds. This wilderness area is superb for boat rides, fishing or simply walking through the swamps. Nearby Barra Vieja is a long stretch of pristine, palm-fringed beach. There are several restaurants along the beachfront, serving up fresh seafood. The specialty of the region is pescado a la talla (spit-roasted, spicy fish).
