The lengths to which some car manufacturers will go to in order to promote their products never ceases to amaze me, but Chevrolet actually managed to do something original enough to make me do a double take with its new Spark model.
The Spark is the company’s new five-door, five-seater city car, with a choice of 1.0 or 1.2-litre petrol engines, and Chevrolet has commissioned a team of engineers from Buckinghamshire to transform it into the world’s biggest record player and the most mobile of mobile discos. By turning the Spark on its side the car converts into a DJ deck, with the road wheels serving as giant turntables. These features don’t come as standard, by the way – this is a one-off!
The Chevrolet Spark DJ car – which can be transformed from being legally roadworthy to a fully-functioning DJ booth in under 20 minutes – measures 3.6 metres in length and stands 1.6 metres high. Once converted into a DJ deck the motor powers the two vinyl turntables, a CD deck and mixer.
Chevrolet is pushing its brand hard this year, also entering a two-car works team in the prestigious British Touring Car Championship, using the Cruze model and with former champion Jason Plato on board.
It’s good to see a company using a bit of innovation in the promotion of its products instead of rolling out the well-worn ‘green’ theme every time. Good luck to them.

This is sick – As a DJ myself, I would be so keen to have something like this as part of our showroom. Are you able to pass through any details relating to the people/company that does this sort of customization?
