1. Hydrogen vehicles

    June 29, 2011 by

What is meant by the term ‘hydrogen vehicle’? To answer this simply, it involves cars that use hydrogen as their main source of power. What you probably want to know is what hydrogen itself actually is. It isn’t derived naturally from the Earth and isn’t a source of energy, but it does instead ‘carry’ energy. It is not a pre-existing source of energy similar to fossil fuels. For vehicles, it needs to be produced using either renewable or non-renewable energy sources. It can be generated using electrolysis of water, which is integrated in wind-to-hydrogen plants. Read more…

  2. Guide to Buying the Right Car

    June 24, 2011 by

At one point or another, it is inevitable whether you are seventeen years old or ninety years old; you will at some time in your life ask yourself ‘How do I find the right car for me?’ There is no absolute right way of answering this question, as the answer is different for everybody. For example, a female driver with blue hair may not want a matching blue car, or might do because she is keen on the idea of clashing colours. In terms of personality, finances, general personal circumstances and preferences – the following Read more…

  3. Top 5 worst cars invented.

    June 23, 2011 by

As opposed to actually making and creating a car, inventing the initial idea of a car design is, perhaps, a lot less difficult. This list compiles the worst list of cars ever to be invented (by unimaginative people, or those who possibly have excessive imaginations that make it become impractical). Plato once said that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” but the following five vehicles that have been chosen for this article reflect how the aesthetic beauty reflects in itself the lack of their quality construction.   Let’s start off with the vintage Read more…

    June 21, 2011 by

You know how it is; every month you pay your car insurance premium and it hurts. It’s physically painful. “Maybe I’ll win the lottery”, you wistfully ponder. Maybe you will win the lottery! No, seriously. If you did win the lottery, what would you drive? And how would your car insurance be affected? Would you be longing for those carefree days as a hard-up Ford Focus driver? 5. Rise in ladies’ car insurance

    June 17, 2011 by

For a long time, women have benefited from cheaper car insurance rates due to the general assumption that they are less likely to get in an accident. This is particularly true for young drivers; car insurance for a male who has just passed their test could be up to twice as high as for a girl at the same age and driving ability. Is this fair? The courts don’t think so. A new ruling has passed which considers cheaper insurance for women as sexually discriminating to men.   The European Court of Justice in Luxembourg Read more…

  6. Moment of madness designs

    June 9, 2011 by

When you’re on the road, have you ever driven past a car and wondered just what the flip the owner was thinking when they bought it? Bad paint jobs, blazing LED lights and unsightly spoilers are typical features of pimped-out cars. Here are a few examples of the extremes people go to in order to make their car stand out. These two have extremely intricate paintwork. You can’t help but appreciate the craftsmanship that has gone in to creating these patterns, but that doesn’t stop them being eyesores. If you saw one of these on Read more…

  7. Cars that can drive on water

    June 8, 2011 by

Oddly enough and contrary to popular belief, amphibious motor vehicles have been in existence since the early 1960s. Mass production began with the Amphicar, which was made available to the public during 1961. Designed by Hanns Trippel, the car’s performance was not groundbreaking but nonetheless fascinating and it therefore became the most successful amphibious motor vehicle as of late – even fifty years later. Interestingly, two Amphicars crossed the English Channel during 1968 and the challenge was made even more difficult as the vehicles had to endure 20-foot waves and gale-force winds. Over four thousand Read more…

  8. Overloading the car while travelling

    May 19, 2011 by

With the recent good weather and seemingly endless run of bank holidays, loads of people have been packing up the car and heading off on weekend breaks across the UK. And with the summer fast approaching, I know I’ll be arranging some more road trips: days out at the beach, festivals, glamping… But amidst deciding what to wear, whether or not I’ll need my hairdryer and if I should bring the polka dot or the leopard print deck chair (or both?) there is one thing that, before now, wouldn’t occur to me to worry about: Read more…
