Pros and cons of convertible cars
January 26, 2012 by Steve Charnock
If you’re in the market for a new car now, chances are you won’t be on the look-out for a convertible. Driving down the gloomy rain-soaked streets of Britain at this time of year with the top down? You may as well just pitch up to the office just in your Speedos and ask your boss to rub some cream into your back. But when the sun’s out and it’s a scorcher, there’s nothing finer Read more…

What happens to all the old cars?
January 12, 2012 by Steve Charnock
There comes a time in every car’s life when it has to get off the road and go up to that big forecourt in the sky. Sure, your yellow 3 door Mk2 1984 Ford Fiesta might have looked good parked up on your drive back when Frankie Goes To Hollywood were at number one and you thought that rolling the sleeves of your suit jacket looked good, but that battered old car is a sorry Read more…

What should an electric car sound like?
January 3, 2012 by Neill Watson
I’m prompted to write this after receiving some very interesting statistics from audio specialists Harmon. In late 2011 they conducted research into what people wanted electric cars to sound like in future. There would appear to be no way of avoiding legislation, which I personally see is ludicrous, which will require electric cars to emit a noise of some sort to warn pedestrians. Harmon’s findings were interesting. “While the majority of respondents actually want electric Read more…

What do you think of the electric car option?
by Steve Charnock
Technology is like a shark – it’s always moving forward. And like a swimming race with a shark, it can be difficult to keep up (mind you, technology’s less likely to bite your leg off…). So what do we need to keep up to date with? What can we afford to ignore? While it might not be that essential to keep up with developments at CERN concerning the complicated machine they’re using to track down Read more…

The Best Thing You Can Do With Ice and Keep Your Clothes On
December 16, 2011 by Neill Watson
At this time of year, most drivers and track day heroes are watching the in-car footage from their favourite day last year, booking tickets to visit Autosport International, thumbing through the Demon Tweeks catalogue and waiting, waiting, waiting for the weather to clear and head for that first day on track again. For the wisest drivers, though, the best driving season is only just beginning. The Ice Driver season. Back in February, I travelled to Read more…

Buying Winter Tyres
December 13, 2011 by Justin Betts
Winter is going to be pretty bad this year! There is a chance that there will be a lot of snow and icy roads. Now, your best bet would be to stay home, and just forget about going anywhere. However, we all know that this is impossible. Just because it snows does not mean that the world stops turning. You’ve got places to go and people to see. So if you are going to get Read more…

Top Ten Dreamy Cars
October 24, 2011 by Steve Charnock
We all dream. Some of us might not even remember what we dream about, while others may have the most fantastical nocturnal flights of fancy possible. Nightly trips to a Fantasiae-sque world of imagination the kind that not even Lewis Carroll could have thought up. The unluckiest of us are only capable of dull dreams, though. Dross so boring that if you told someone about it, they would instantly fall asleep (and no doubt Read more…

Funniest Bumper Stickers
October 19, 2011 by Steve Charnock
We all like a laugh and a joke, don’t we? Absolutely. Some people like telling jokes down the pub, some people are ‘The Office Joker’ (aka ‘That Idiot With The Simpsons Tie That No One Likes’). But what better way to tell a joke that to have it printed and stuck to the bumper of your car? What’s that? ‘Oh God, those bumper stickers are terrible, tacky and rarely ever funny?’ Well, you may have Read more…

Retro Yet Modern Cars
October 18, 2011 by Steve Charnock
What is or isn’t stylish is a pretty subjective matter. One man’s meat is another man’s freedom fighter, after all. What you think looks good, others might laugh at. When people wear beanie hats, they think they look alright, don’t they (you know better) In fact, take a look outside now… Everyone looks rubbish, don’t they? Compared to the ’50′s, when everyone was wearing suits and fedoras… Things were just cooler back in the old Read more…

Shane Lynch – The Rock Star In The Drift Car
by Neill Watson
I’ve been listening to Rock Star by Nickelback on my iPod recently, so when I’m asked to meet up with to meet Shane Lynch of Boyzone to talk about his latest motorsport craze of drifting, the lyrics spring to mind “I want a big black jet with a bedroom in it… and a bathroom I can play baseball in…I wanna be a rock star.” So as I head over to the drift track, I’m keen Read more…
