So it’s the end of yet another year. Can you believe that 2012 has finished already? And that it’s 2013? We’re living in the future! 2013. It just doesn’t sound right, does it? Anyway…
As the last echoes of Auld Lang Syne echo ring out across the country, thoughts turn to everyone’s new years’ resolutions (well, after we’ve all dealt with our New Years Day hangover, at least). There are the same ol’ boring ones about packing up smoking and going to the gym and all that, but no one wants to hear about those! So why not set yourself some interesting resolutions? What have you always wanted to do? Where have you always wanted to go? Not sure? Don’t worry, maybe you can borrow one of our suggestions…
Discover the UK!
Never forget that you live in one of the most varied, interesting and beautiful countries in the world. Before you book that ticket to Java, ask yourself, ‘where in the UK haven’t I been?’ We guarantee you they’ll be a good few places with stunning views, friendly locals and interesting things to see and do to investigate.
Take a chance
There’s a reason so many of us head to the same places year after year. It’s safe, isn’t it? Sure Southern Spain is nice, but you’ve been there and you’ve done that. Why not take a risk and head somewhere new? Just stick a pin in a map and see where it takes you… You’ll thank yourself for it once you’re there!
Go off the map
Why not visit a country you know little about? Then head off on a trail once you’re there. Don’t wander off into the Amazon by yourself, of course – but think outside the box a bit. If nothing else, it should be pretty exciting!
Visit a World Heritage Site
UNESCO World Heritage Sites are internationally recognised places/sites of cultural, historical and/or natural significance that are well worth preserving. And that means they’re well worth seeing too! Most countries have a few and you can guarantee they’ll be a talking point when you get back. Pick one that best suits your tastes and it’ll be a holiday you’ll never forget. Perfect.
Prepare for the future
Not exactly rolling in money? don’t worry, that doesn’t mean you have to just forget about your travel dreams. Sure, you might not be able to afford to jet around the place in the next year, but you can get ready to do it another year. Get yourself some books in and read up. Learn about the world. Plan the ultimate trip. And start saving!
Keen on any of those ideas? Or maybe you’ve got your own travel goals for 2013… If you have, tell us how you plan to do it below!
