Traveling with kids can be…well an experience. All kids love to go on holiday, but not all of them love the journey there. Back in the day, there was not much you could do about this. You would be hit with hundreds of “are we there yet?” questions. The good news is, we are in the age of technology, and smartphones have changed the way we travel. Not only can they provide directions on how to get to your destination, they can also keep your kids busy until you get there. Today we are going to talk about a few apps you may want to think about downloading to entertain your kids for your next holiday!
PBS Kids Video
PBS is an American broadcaster that has been entertaining kids for years. However, thanks to PBS America (the UK broadcast of this channel), kids around the world have been enjoying what they have to offer for some time now. That is why PBS Kids Video is one of the apps that makes our list. This is a great free app that is perfect for kids age 2 to 9. The only downfall for this app is that it does eat up a bit of internet, and it is only for iPhones and iPads. That being said, the app allows kids to watch free videos like Sid the Science Guy, Sesame Street, Dinosaur Train, Curious George, Martha Speaks, and much more. This is sure to keep your young ones entertained for hours.

Alfred
For those of you holidaying in the United States, you may want to check out the free app called Alfred. This is a fun “robot concierge” that will be your guide as you travel through America. It is perfect for first time visitors. To start with, Alfred asks you a bunch of questions like: “What kind of restaurants do you like?” As you answer him, he will start recommending places that you can approve or deny. The more questions you answer, the more Alfred gets to know you. Kids love answering questions and interacting with things on this level. If you are new in town, this is the perfect app for you. The app works for both iOS systems and Android.
My Little Suitcase
Kids always want to help their parents plan things. It makes them feel like they are helping out. Since kids can’t help parents plan real holidays (other than giving suggestions), there is an app that lets them! This free app is a little holiday planner all wrapped up in a kid friendly atmosphere. Your child can spend some time picking their favorite destination, packing their suitcase, and doing other things to prepare for their family holiday. This is a fun free app, but the only downside is older kids will lose their interest with it quickly. That is why the app is recommended for kids 2 to 6. This app can be found on both iOS systems and Android.

Road Trip Bingo Lite
One of the best ways to survive a family holiday is to play games. Now there is an app for that! No, this app does not kill the interaction you will have with each other, but it does help make the game more interactive. Road Trip Bingo Lite says it takes “car bingo” to the next level. The app will give kids objects that they have to look for. Every time they see something, they can market it off. The first one to get bingo, wins! The app is free, but once again, it only works for iPod, iPhones and iPad.
iSpy Kids Travel
The last app we are going to talk about on our list today is a paid app. However, it is well worth every bit of the money you will pay for it. iSpy Kids Travel is an app that allows everyone in the car to play together. The app will come up with different objects (whether it is a certain car or road sign) and then it is up to everyone in the car to try and find it. The game is perfect for a big family and includes 2 different sets of pictures. One set is perfect for small towns and the country, and the other set is perfect for cities. The app works for all iOS systems, and it will only set you back £0.59.
