Your car can say a lot about you and who you are. Not literally of course (unless you’re David Hasselhoff in Knightrider). But the type of car and what it looks like can reveal quite a bit about your character and what kind of person you are. On a purely superficial and quite obvious level, if you drive a brand new Mercedes, it’s a fairly safe bet that you’re quite well off. If your motor’s filthy dirty and full of rubbish with the registration plate half hanging off, chances are you’re probably pretty scruffy. But on a more subtle level, some psychologists claim that a lot of us choose cars based on their colour for a special reason. So do you want to find out what kind of person you are? Have a look-see here with our useful colour guide:
Silver
A cool, sophisticated and elegant driver who wants to give the impression of wealth and prestige. A recent study suggested that silver car owners are likely to be, on average, more confident than owners of other coloured cars.
Light blue
A serene, peaceful and calm driver who values people and relationships over possessions and money.
Dark blue
A reliable, credible and confident driver.
Black
A desire to stamp authority on other road users is common in black car drivers. Just as a desire to ramble on and on about nothing in particular is common in black cab drivers. Serious, controlled, refined, morose types prefer a black car, you may even be a funeral director (if your car’s long and black…!).
Red
A passionate (surprise, surprise!) and a quite a wild person. Someone who likes to take charge of situations. A bit of a live-wire, you’re more likely to get on the horn than other drivers. You’re a risk-taker who’s full of verve and energy. Also – and the risk of sounding a little rude – that back seat has probably seen some, how shall we say? ‘Action’?
Grey
A sign of stability and reliability. You’re a sober and dependable type. Who’s a bit boring (sorry!). That back seat’s used exclusively for seating elderly relatives…
Multi-coloured
A clown.
White
A safe, cautious and reserved driver, you’re probably not very easily annoyed. Which is useful, because the dirt shows so up much on your car, you’ll be washing it every weekend – a red car driver would be infuriated at that…
Green
A conscientious driver who tries to smooth over tense situations when they arise. People who favour tradition over modern stuff.
Purple
A very self-assured person and driver with an affection for all things beautiful and exotic. A bit of a show-off.
Yellow
A confident and not afraid to let out their inner child. Someone who’s not afraid to be seen driving around in a massive lemon.
Gold
A person with a real desire to express independence. Or if the car is actually made out of gold, an extremely rich person with a real desire to express their independence.
Orange
A happy person who loves being unique and craves attention all the time.
Pink
A blonde-haired hairdresser. Probably from Essex.
