How Often Do You Change Your Outfits on Holiday?
August 22, 2012 by Briony Jones
We are all guilty of it. We go on holiday, and we pack a bunch of clothes. A lot of times, we pack clothes that we have not worn in years! Now the real question is: How often do we actually change our clothes on holiday? The truth of the matter is pretty simple, it all depends on the person, and of course how long the holiday is. Women vs Men The differences between men and women are pretty great in numbers. We all think and do things differently. If you look at stereotypes, women always pack more clothing than men. You see it all the time in the movies. The guy has one suitcase and the woman is dragging around what appears to be every outfit she owns. It looks like he packed for the weekend, and she packed for a month. How much of this is true? Unfortunately, it is pretty accurate. Read more…

Our Review: Raft Racing
August 17, 2012 by Helen Young
I think we all crave a little danger. It is a break from our boring, everyday, run-of-the-mill way of life. Maybe that is why we seek activities that can sometimes be classified as “reckless.” That is not to say that we are reckless for liking these activities, we just crave a little excitement. This could be the reason why so many of us like to go raft racing! For those of you who have never been, it’s a blast. On the other hand, it can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. Is Raft Racing Dangerous? It is hard to name any physical activity that is not dangerous. If you’re going to get out there and live your life, then you have to be willing to take a bit of a chance. That being said, yes…raft racing is dangerous. This is a sport that has claimed a number of lives. I don’t Read more…

Our Review: Camel Racing
August 15, 2012 by Paul Humphreys
When someone says ‘racing’, what do you think of? Powerful big horses powering down a track? Each way bets and ladies’ days? Maybe it’s fibreglass cars speeding around Monaco and Champagne corks popping. Whatever the image you have in your head, chances are it’s not one of a gang of gangly sand brown camels stumbling down a dusty road with little kids on their backs. It would be if you were from an Arabic country, though… History You may assume that camel racing comes from someone just taking the success seen in horse racing and substituting horses with camels. And technically, you’re right. But it’s not something which has just been copied recently – racing camels has been a sport since the 7th Century. The ‘sport of Sheikhs’ has, over the years, seen the ‘ships of the desert’ reach some surprisingly high speeds. The current record standing at 64kmph. Now that’s a quick camel! Read more…

Independent Travel On The Rise
August 13, 2012 by Gareth Robinson
Independent Travel On The Rise Recent figures suggest that there’s been a rather steep increase in the number of travellers venturing abroad on their own. There’s been an impressive 45% surge in lone holiday-making in the last five years. What was once seen as a slightly odd thing to do is now quite acceptable and sees holiday companies and tourist boards having to re-think their marketing strategies. It’s no longer just couples and families that they’ve got to cater for… Why? But what exactly has seen this rise in people trekking off on their lonesomes? Could the rise of social media, emails and cheap roaming deals abroad be a factor? It might sound strange, but with every single friend and family member only a few clicks on your mobile away, the world suddenly seems a much smaller place. you’re only ever 30 seconds away from speaking to someone or keeping up with the news Read more…
