The first car invented
June 30, 2011 by Emma Shores
There is no satisfying answer to the question: “who invented the first car?” in fact, it was many people, over a series of centuries and decades. Ferdinand Verbiest, who travelled to Asia and experimented with the idea there, created the very first steam powered toy car in 1672. Finally, he came to create the first vehicle but his version was a toy that he eventually gave as a gift to the Emperor of China. Read more…

Hydrogen vehicles
June 29, 2011 by Emma Shores
What is meant by the term ‘hydrogen vehicle’? To answer this simply, it involves cars that use hydrogen as their main source of power. What you probably want to know is what hydrogen itself actually is. It isn’t derived naturally from the Earth and isn’t a source of energy, but it does instead ‘carry’ energy. It is not a pre-existing source of energy similar to fossil fuels. For vehicles, it needs to be produced using Read more…

Grand Prix 2011 results – Valencia
June 28, 2011 by Emma Shores
This year’s 2011 European Grand Prix was held in the Valencia Street Circuit in Spain. Sebastien Vettel rather unsurprisingly won the championship by starting in the first position and continued to beat Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber until the very end (with them coming second and third, respectively). It doesn’t need to be said but Vettel has proven to be incredible this year. With Alonso being an entire ten seconds behind; he showed to Read more…

June 27, 2011 by Emma Shores
Dating back to the days of hippies, summer love and drugs, when most people think of ‘festivals’ they often picture the prestigious Glastonbury in their head. Abbreviated as ‘Glastonbury’, the ‘Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts’ takes place at Worthy Farm, which is in the south west of England. Nowadays, it’s all about camping, muddy fields, dodgy lavatories, expensive ticket prices (this year’s weekend ticket costs a total of £195.00, compared to eleven years ago Read more…

Top 5 worst cars invented.
June 23, 2011 by Emma Shores
As opposed to actually making and creating a car, inventing the initial idea of a car design is, perhaps, a lot less difficult. This list compiles the worst list of cars ever to be invented (by unimaginative people, or those who possibly have excessive imaginations that make it become impractical). Plato once said that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” but the following five vehicles that have been chosen for this article reflect Read more…

It’s this time of year again. Crowds upon crowds constantly devouring strawberries and cream in the rain once every year in the month of June and on until July. A visit from the Royal Family isn’t impossible, either. Few celebrities and empty seats here and there. Swarms of photographers stood in the front row, amongst the BBC making their television coverage with Sue Barker. The prominent and symbolic colour green and purple absolutely everywhere, the Read more…

You know how it is; every month you pay your car insurance premium and it hurts. It’s physically painful. “Maybe I’ll win the lottery”, you wistfully ponder. Maybe you will win the lottery! Rise in ladies’ car insurance
June 17, 2011 by Dave Duttson
For a long time, women have benefited from cheaper car insurance rates due to the general assumption that they are less likely to get in an accident. This is particularly true for young drivers; car insurance for a male who has just passed their test could be up to twice as high as for a girl at the same age and driving ability. Is this fair? The courts don’t think so. A new ruling has Read more…
